‘Together we stand’: coalition-building in the Italian and Spanish feminist movements in times of crisis

We analyse coalition-building in feminist mobilisations times of crisis two similar cases: Spain and Italy. Based on social movement literature, we develop key arguments. First, austerity-ridden scenarios, connecting socio-economic grievances demands is for the mass to follow. Second, anti-austerity struggles must resonate across different dimensions coalition-building, both within movements feminists other actors, such as LGBTQ collectives challengers. The data used throughout article come from semi-structured interviews with activists Italian Spanish grass-roots organisations. Our results suggest that neoliberal may present opportunities not only advance agenda, but also foster alliances milieus between relevant collective actors.
